Andrea Aghini was born in Livorno on 29 December 1963, and made his rallying debut in 1984. Andrea made history in rallying for his strength on asphalt in the 1990s.
His is the last victory in a world race by an Italian driver in an Italian car. This happened in the 1992 Rally di Sanremo when he was at the wheel of a Lancia Delta Integrale of Team Martini Racing. On that event, he beat his team-mate and challenger Kankkunen, dominating on the Ligurian asphalt stages and defending his position on the gravel sections of his Tuscany.
